Every year for the past 7 years we have been here. At this place that we find ourselves today with our production, Me and My Drum.
Every year there is a rehearsal that we leave wondering "how in the world will it all come together in time?!"
I saw it on some of your faces last night. I overheard pieces of it filtering into conversations.
In past years we have had pep talks and encouragement sessions. I even remember one in which I was compared to an old horse and you were challenged to trust me to get you to the other side of it safely.
OK, that's not this conversation today.
This morning as I am looking ahead to the day and setting my agenda of things to accomplish I am focusing on a couple of things that you might also want to consider.
First, no single one of us is required to pull this off on our own. This production, as all of our productions have been, is the result of well over 100 people working together. People have and continue to pray and work giving the very best of themselves to create, staff, support and prepare this production.
All any one of us is being asked to do is to take our part and give it the very best of what we have to bring to it and to God. When each of us brings our best, any process becomes much more that the sum of the parts.
And then, this morning, I was reminded of a passage that is just overflowing with encouragement and hope. It seems like a great reminder for all of us. The passage is Ephesians 3:20-21.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
This is what our goal has been from the beginning. We want to create a production that will give glory to God. The great news in this passage? The reminder that Paul throws in just in case we might be a little doubtful:
God is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we can ask or imagine.
That is what I have seen happen every year.
A little idea of a few of us putting our heads, hearts and talents together to create a show becomes something so much more and it is because of what God can do and what He brings not just to the production but to each of us.
Me and My Drum is not about putting on a really good show for Clearwater to come and see. It is about us bringing the best of ourselves to offer to God and watching Him take something simple like a drum solo and make it an unbelievable offering to a King and causing it to inspire others to bring their best to Him as well.
I can't wait to see what God does with Me and My Drum and in your life as a result of you being a part of it.
Thank you! Thank you for bringing Him your best.
Be more than encouraged, be excited about what is going to happen this weekend!
