The service we are presenting this week has been in preparation for months - literally. We will be talking this coming Sunday about Jesus' statement in John 6:51 "I am the bread of life."
Several months ago, Chris and Douglas boarded a plane and set out for Haiti where they met and filmed many of the children who attend our school in St. Louis Du Nord. They continued laying plans as well for a chicken farm to be started there so that the school can eventually become self sustaining.
Then last week many of us here at Cypress participated in our second Solidarity challenge where we chose to eat for five days the way much of the world eats all the time - eating a limited diet of primarily rice and beans. We then set aside the money we would have spent on groceries that week so that we can contribute it to the building of the chicken farm.
I know for me, God has used so many circumstances, teachings, Bible readings and conversations to show me more about His love for the people of Haiti over these past few months as we've prepared. I hope that has been happening for you as well.
Another tool you can use as you continue to get ready to serve this Sunday is that you can go onto Planning Center and click the blue arrow beside any of the videos listed in the plan and find a link (or go onto YouTube and search for cypressmeadows) to be able to preview the video. I found as I was doing this that the people of Haiti were no longer a vague community somewhere to our south, but they became real people with real stories and with real hopes and dreams for their lives. I hope you'll take a few minutes and review these as well and ask God to use that time to teach you whatever you need to hear about His love for you and for others.
Thanks again for all that you contribute to our services each Sunday! The changes that are happening in St. Louis Du Nord are happening in part because of what you do to help tell this story!
See you Sunday morning!

Its going to be a great service - wish I could be there for it!
Like the new blog BTW - we can comment now!!! Whoo Hoo!
