As we manage this tension, we must make choices. We simply can't do it all. The way we are encouraged to choose is based on our priorities - what is most important to us.

There will always be fires to be put out, random messages grabbing for our attention, enticing opportunities. But, what is most important? How do we decide where to focus?
One statement rings in my ears as I think through those questions: People matter to God.
Do I plan my day around what will serve the people around me? How can they best be served? Do they have a relationship with God that is providing them the care, comfort, encouragement, support, wisdom and strength that they need to help navigate their own sea of choices? Do people matter as much to me as they do to God?
I wonder what it would look like if I intentionally filtered my agenda for each day through these questions?
